Аннотация. Существование различных методик преподавания иностранного языка дают преподавателю возможность выбора наиболее эффективной, с учетом особенностей каждой из них, наиболее продуктивной можно считать комбинацию классической и коммуникативной методик.

The article dwells on different methods used in mastering foreign languages. It deals with such methods as fundamental method, audio-lingual one, lingua-socio-cultural one, communicative one, Russian and foreign ones, intensive one and sense-emotional one. There being different methods in mastering foreign languages, it allows teachers to choose the most effective ones. The article stresses the fact that the combination of classic and communicative approaches leads to the greatest effect.
