COGNITIVE ASPECT OF CLEFTS FUNCTIONING IN DETECTIVE DISCOURSE

In this report we analyze the usage of clefts within the frame structure of basic concepts relevant to detective discourse. The basic principles of the attentional approach to language in terms of cognitive linguistics are set forth, with the notions of ‘frame’ and ‘perspective’ being elucidated. Major functions of clefts, i.e. perspective changing and attention windowing are described.
